India, Aug. 14 -- Two children, aged nine and 11, died after falling into a rainwater-filled pit in the 100 Feet DDA Flats area of Narela, Delhi, Thursday. The children, who lived in Bawana, had gone there to play when they accidentally fell into the waterlogged pit. Locals spotted them struggling, pulled them out and alerted police through a PCR call received at NIA police station. Police and locals rushed them to Satyawadi Raja Harishchandra Hospital in Narela, where doctors declared them dead on arrival. Police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation into the incident. They are examining how the children accessed the pit and whether safety measures, including barricades, warning tape or signs, had been installed. Locals are also being questioned as authorities investigate whether any entity may be held responsible.
