India, July 22 -- igh drama unfolded in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly on Tuesday after Congress legislators staged a sit-in outside Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's office within the Assembly complex, alleging that the government had refused to allow a discussion on the alleged lathi charge on NEET aspirants protesting in New Delhi. Led by Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar, Congress MLAs gathered outside the Chief Minister's office, leaving the House proceedings, raising slogans against the BJP government and demanding a discussion on the police action against the students. The Opposition accused the state government of remaining silent over what it described as an attack on the country's youth. Speaking to reporters, Singhar said that two of the 21 NEET aspirants who had allegedly died by suicide across the country were from Madhya Pradesh and questioned why the issue was not being discussed in the Assembly. The sit-in, which continued late at night, was triggered after the government rejected the Congress' demand to suspend the day's listed business and take up the issue of the alleged police action against NEET aspirants protesting in the national capital.
