New Delhi, Sept. 9 -- Delhi Higher Education Minister Ashish Sood on Wednesday urged students of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) to move beyond conventional career aspirations and actively contribute to solving the city's civic challenges, while highlighting the government's plans for safer student accommodation and a stronger start-up ecosystem.
Addressing the inaugural session of the Students' Induction Programme 2026 at GGSIPU, Sood described the new batch as the country's aspirational youth and the "Amrit Peedhi" that would carry forward the vision of a "Viksit Bharat".
The minister stressed the need to expand quality higher education opportunities in Delhi, saying the government and educational institutions must work together to create more campuses, improve facilities and strengthen academic ecosystems.
Sood also said the Delhi government was working towards a stronger legislative mechanism for education and PG facilities to ensure students have a safer and more supportive living environment. The issue assumes significance amid the ongoing scrutiny of PG accommodation in the capital following the Satya Niketan building collapse.
