New Delhi, Sept. 17 -- Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday inaugurated a Miyawaki-based urban forest at Lodhi Colony Park, with around 10,000 native saplings planted across 3,000 square metres.
The project, named 'Bharat Vann', has been developed by India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL) under its corporate social responsibility initiative and is being implemented by the Enviro Creators Foundation. The plantation uses the Miyawaki method, which creates a dense, multi-layered forest using native species. The project includes 36 months of maintenance to support the growth and survival of the saplings.
The inauguration was attended by senior IIFCL and NDMC officials. The event also included an interaction with students on environmental awareness and sustainable development.
