New Delhi, Sept. 29 -- Delhi Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood on Tuesday said the government was accelerating development works in unauthorised colonies across the national capital, while accusing the previous government of attempting to obstruct ongoing projects.
Speaking during a programme related to development projects in unauthorised colonies, Sood said the Urban Development Department was undertaking infrastructure work in areas that had remained in need of civic improvements. "Our Urban Development Department is carrying out development work in unauthorised colonies," Sood said.
Taking a dig at the previous government, the minister alleged that opposition to the ongoing projects was aimed at slowing down development after the current government began delivering projects.
"In contrast, when the previous government sees that we have achieved what they could not, they act like a naraz phupha, creating obstacles and trying to derail progress at every turn," he said. Sood said such attempts would not affect the government's development agenda and asserted that projects were being taken forward across unauthorised colonies.
"Such tactics will no longer work," he said.
The minister said projects involving hundreds of crores of rupees had already been inaugurated in unauthorised colonies and indicated that the government planned to expand development works to other such settlements across Delhi.
