New Delhi, Sept. 14 -- The Delhi government will organise a mega blood donation camp at Tyagraj Stadium on September 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, with Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh directing departments and hospitals to ensure seamless arrangements for the drive.
Singh on Monday chaired a meeting with heads of Delhi government departments and medical superintendents of government hospitals to review preparations for the camp, being organised under the Sewa Pakhwada by the Delhi State Health Mission (DSHM).
"Blood donation is one of the noblest forms of Seva. Through this mega camp, we want to bring together the strength of Delhi's government departments, hospitals and citizens for a common humanitarian cause," Singh said.
The minister directed departments to mobilise and motivate people to participate in the blood donation drive. The camp will be supported by 11 Delhi government hospital blood banks, including Lok Nayak Hospital, BSA Hospital, GTB Hospital, DDU Hospital, GB Pant Hospital, BM Hospital, SGM Hospital, RGSS Hospital, ILBS Hospital and Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital.
The participating hospitals will provide medical teams, equipment, cold-chain facilities and safe transportation of collected blood units.
Representatives of Delhi Police, Home Guards and Civil Defence, MCD, NDMC, DTC, Education, Higher Education, Training and Technical
Education, Delhi Fire Service, Health and Family Welfare and Revenue departments, along with the Indian Red Cross Society, attended the
meeting.
Singh directed officials to ensure arrangements for registration, screening, blood collection, medical support, security, ambulance services, sanitation and traffic management.
The minister also appealed to citizens to participate voluntarily, describing blood donation as an act of service and collective responsibility.
