India, July 22 -- MCD Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar on Tuesday inspected the Bhajanpura drain in Shahdara North Zone and directed officials to intensify drain cleaning, desilting and monitoring to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon. He also ordered public awareness campaigns with RWAs and warned of fines for dumping garbage into drains. Officials were asked to install dustbins and examine mesh barriers near culverts to prevent blockages. During visits to Gautampuri and the New Usmanpur Animal Birth Control Centre, Khirwar ordered removal of unserviceable vehicles, sought improvements in the centre's functioning and called for an action plan to utilise vacant MCD flats.
