New Delhi, April 19 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) intensified its enforcement and infrastructure monitoring efforts across the Capital, sealing multiple polluting units in Shahdara and reviewing civic works in Najafgarh.

In a stringent action in Ward No. 246, Sadatpur, under the Shahdara North Zone, MCD teams sealed 16 industrial units for violating environmental norms. Officials said 12 of these units were involved in water-polluting activities, while four were found contributing to air pollution. The units were engaged in operations such as chemical processing and jeans dyeing, which were found to be non-compliant with prescribed regulations. The civic body stated that the crackdown reflects its continued focus on curbing environmental violations and safeguarding public health. Authorities reiterated that strict action will be taken against units operating without adherence to pollution control norms. In a separate development, MCD officials conducted an on-ground inspection of desilting operations and road infrastructure works in Matiala Ward, Najafgarh Zone. The visit was carried out in the presence of the area Councillor and zonal officials.

During the inspection, the team assessed the pace and quality of ongoing works, issuing directions to ensure timely completion. Special emphasis was placed on efficient drainage systems and the construction of durable roads to improve public convenience, particularly in view of the upcoming monsoon season.

The MCD maintained that it remains committed to strengthening civic infrastructure, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring cleanliness and environmental compliance across all zones of the city.
