India, Aug. 10 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) organised a Raahgiri Day event in Karol Bagh on Sunday to promote road safety, cleanliness and waste segregation among residents. The event was held at DLF Midtown Plaza on Shivaji Maharaj Marg in the Karampura Industrial Area, Moti Nagar, under the guidance of Central Zone Deputy Commissioner Dilkhush Meena. It was organised in collaboration with the Raahgiri Foundation and the Commission for Air Quality Management. More than 300 people, including around 100-150 school students, participated in the event. Activities such as cycling, fitness exercises, interactive games and awareness programmes were organised to encourage public participation. The programme focused on road safety, cleanliness and responsible waste management under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Participants were encouraged to segregate waste at source and adopt responsible disposal practices to help maintain cleaner public spaces. The MCD also highlighted the role of citizen participation in improving the city's cleanliness and safety. Special emphasis was placed on the message, "Don't throw in haste. Segregate your waste." The civic body said involving young people in such initiatives could help promote long-term behavioural changes around waste management and cleanliness. The event also sought to encourage residents to contribute towards cleaner streets and improved air quality.
