New Delhi, May 13 -- Amid the intensifying heatwave in the national capital, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has launched several measures under its Heat Action Plan to protect sanitation workers, residents, and stray animals from extreme temperatures.
The civic body has arranged cold drinking water and ORS solutions at Sanitary Inspector offices and roll-call sites across Delhi to prevent dehydration among field staff. Caps have also been distributed to sanitation workers working under direct sunlight. Additionally, two vehicles equipped with water and ORS supplies have been deployed in each zone.
The MCD has also made arrangements for animals and birds by placing earthen water pots at dog-feeding points and inside public parks.
Officials said the initiative aims to safeguard frontline workers engaged in maintaining sanitation services during the severe summer conditions.
