New Delhi, Sept. 15 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Tuesday intensified its city-wide enforcement drive against unauthorised constructions, dangerous buildings and violations of the Master Plan of Delhi (MPD) and building bye-laws, carrying out 40 demolition actions and sealing 16 properties across its 12 zones.
The civic body also passed four demolition orders against properties found to be in violation of building norms. The action came a day after the MCD carried out 40 demolition actions and sealed eight properties as part of its ongoing enforcement campaign.
According to the MCD, major demolition actions on Tuesday were carried out at Gaushala Road in Satbari in the South Zone and at Vishal Enclave, Hastsal, Vikaspuri Extension and Uttam Nagar in the West Zone. In the North Zone, enforcement action, including demolition, was undertaken in the Subzi Mandi area.
In the East Zone, demolition action was carried out at New Seelampur, Mayur Vihar Phase-I and Pandav Nagar. Similar enforcement measures were undertaken at several other locations across the remaining zones.
The civic body said the continued drive was aimed at curbing unauthorised construction and ensuring compliance with statutory building norms, particularly in cases involving potential risks to public safety. It said enforcement action would continue against violations across Delhi.
Meanwhile, the MCD has been conducting a field survey of paying guest (PG) accommodation buildings across the city to create a database of operational facilities and assess their compliance with applicable building norms and regulations.
So far, the survey has identified around 2,453 buildings where PG facilities are operational, accommodating nearly 55,000 people. The civic body said the survey would help assess the status of such establishments and facilitate further regulatory action wherever violations are found.
