New Delhi, Sept. 21 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Monday carried out 44 demolition actions across its 12 zones as part of a city-wide enforcement drive against unauthorised constructions, dangerous buildings and violations of the Master Plan of Delhi and building bye-laws.
The civic body also sealed 11 properties and issued five demolition orders during the day's enforcement exercise, according to a statement issued by the MCD.
The action was undertaken as part of the Corporation's continuing drive to check violations of building norms and address structures considered to pose risks to public safety.
Field officials have been directed to maintain vigilance across their respective jurisdictions and act against violations under the applicable regulations.
In the East Zone, major demolition actions were carried out in Gandhi Nagar, Mandawali Fazalpur, New Ashok Nagar, Ganesh Nagar-II Extension and East Vinod Nagar. Enforcement action was also reported from Balbir Nagar and New Mustafabad in Shahdara.
In other parts of the city, action was taken in Ashok Vihar, Sawan Park Extension, Naraina, New Moti Nagar and Inderpuri, as well as Shalimar Bagh and Tarun Enclave, among other locations.
The MCD said it had also undertaken an enforcement exercise on Sunday, during which four properties were demolished and three were sealed for violations of the MPD and building
bye-laws.
The MCD said unauthorised construction and building violations would invite action, with enforcement continuing across the city as officials intensify monitoring of construction activity and compliance with building norms.
