India, Aug. 7 -- Senior IAS officer Manoj Kumar Dwivedi on Friday took charge as the chairperson of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). Dwivedi, a 1997-batch AGMUT cadre officer, held an interaction with senior NDMC officers and heads of departments soon after assuming charge and reviewed the council's ongoing work and key priorities. In a statement, he stressed the need for better coordination among departments, efficient delivery of civic services and a citizen-centric approach to improve amenities in the NDMC area, according to an official statement. Prior to his new assignment, Dwivedi served as Additional Secretary (Establishment) in the Department of Personnel and Training. He had earlier served as Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce. A BTech in Chemical Engineering from IIT Delhi, Dwivedi succeeded Keshav Chandra, who has been appointed Secretary, Ministry of Coal. Dwivedi held several senior administrative positions during his nearly three-decade career, including Principal Secretary of the General Administration Department in Jammu and Kashmir and deputy commissioner in Leh, Rajouri and Jammu. He also served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and was involved in administrative coordination during the governance transition in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
