Chandigarh, Oct. 18 -- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday launched two new products under MARKFED's flagship SOHNA brand, Chickpeas in Brine (Chitte Chhole) and Red Kidney Beans in Brine (Rajmah), at SIAL Paris 2026, as the state seeks to expand its agricultural exports and strengthen its presence in international food markets.
Leading a high-level delegation to Paris, Mann inaugurated MARKFED's exhibition stall at the India Pavilion, showcasing Punjab's agricultural produce, food processing capabilities and traditional food products.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister said the initiative aimed to take Punjab's quality products to global consumers, increase farmers' incomes and establish Punjabi brands in international markets.
Addressing the gathering, Mann said Punjab's agricultural strength and traditional food products had the potential to compete globally. He said the state was focusing on value addition, modern food processing, quality packaging and stronger international market linkages to create opportunities for farmers, cooperatives, entrepreneurs and exporters.
The two canned products expand MARKFED's ready-to-use food portfolio, complementing its existing range of Punjabi dishes, including Sarson Ka Saag, Dal Makhani, Rajmah and Amritsari Chana, under the SOHNA brand.
The products are being showcased alongside those of Milkfed, which markets its products under the Verka brand, and Punjab Agro under the Punjab Mart umbrella at the international exhibition.
MARKFED, which represents around two million farmers and has a turnover exceeding Rs 21,248 crore, exports products to more than 20 countries.
