
New Delhi, July 5 -- A 20-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death in northeast Delhi's New Usmanpur after an earlier altercation in which he had reportedly slapped one of the accused, police said. Three men have been arrested in connection with the murder.
Police were alerted to the incident through a PCR call received at New Usmanpur Police Station on the morning of July 4, reporting that an injured man was lying in a DDA park near Jag Pravesh Chandra (JPC) Hospital.
A police team rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to JPC Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The deceased was identified as Toheed (20), a resident of K-Block, New Seelampur.
An FIR under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), pertaining to murder, was registered and an investigation launched. A forensic team examined the crime scene and collected evidence, while multiple police teams worked to identify those involved.
The accused were identified as Shahnawaz (21), Noor Hasan (20) and Anas (21), all residents of T-Huts, Seelampur.
During the investigation, police found that Toheed had been involved in a quarrel with the accused earlier the same evening. Based on technical surveillance and other evidence, the three suspects were apprehended.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime. According to police, Noor Hasan had been slapped by Toheed during the earlier altercation, while Shahnawaz was allegedly threatened by him. Seeking revenge, the trio allegedly lured Toheed to the park, where they stabbed him to death.
Police said the murder weapon has been recovered. During verification, Shahnawaz was also found to have previously been involved in a robbery case. Further investigation is under way to establish the complete sequence of events and ascertain whether any other persons were involved in the crime.
