Kolkata, May 14 -- In an apparent bid to rebuild confidence within the party after Trinamool Congress's electoral setback in West Bengal, supremo Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday held a crucial meeting with the party's Members of Parliament at Kalighat, sending out a clear message that the political battle is far from over.

The closed-door meeting, attended by TMC's Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, primarily focused on strengthening morale among party leaders and workers in the aftermath of the defeat. According to party sources, the leadership urged parliamentarians to stay

connected with grassroots workers, reassure supporters and prepare for an aggressive political and parliamentary fight in the coming months.

Following the meeting, the party, through its official X handle, said Bengal had been witnessing "violence, fear and chaos" under the BJP's watch and asserted that it would not remain a "silent spectator." The post further stated that every victim would get justice, every conspiracy would be exposed and every perpetrator would be held accountable. Sources present at the meeting said Mamata Banerjee told party MPs not to lose heart and maintained that the truth about "how votes were looted" would eventually come out. She reportedly stressed that the party's strength of 41 MPs in Parliament would now become its principal political platform against the BJP. Veteran actor-turned-MP Shatrughan Sinha, after the meeting, expressed confidence in the party's future course and said: "We are confident. The INDIA alliance is with us. We'll get over it."

TMC MP and youth leader Saayoni Ghosh echoed a combative tone, alleging: "They won by looting votes. We'll be more powerful this time."

Abhishek Banerjee is learnt to have asked party MPs to intensify public outreach and remain visible in their constituencies as part of the party's broader post-poll regrouping exercise aimed at reviving organisational confidence.

Kalyan Banerjee has been reinstated as Trinamool Congress' Lok Sabha chief whip, replacing Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar in a recent parliamentary reshuffle led by Mamata Banerjee.
