Kolkata, Sept. 20 -- The Mamata All India Trinamool Congress (MAITC) has released its list of star campaigners for the Rejinagar Assembly bypoll, with Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee among the 20 leaders named for the campaign.
The list includes Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, Kalyan Banerjee, Sobhandev Chattopadhyay, Kunal Ghosh, Saugata Roy, Dola Sen, Pratima Mondal, Upasana Chowdhury, Samirul Islam, Mahua Moitra, Babar Ali, Pirzada Kasem Siddiqui, Mohammad Ali, former IPS officer Humayun Kabir, Arnab Banerjee and Priyanka Adhikari, among others.
The development comes after considerable uncertainty over the party's candidates for the October 6 bypolls. In Rejinagar, the party's candidate Rabiul Alam Chowdhury had also created uncertainty over his participation. Rabiul had initially indicated that he would withdraw his nomination but later agreed to contest following a conversation with Mamata Banerjee. He began campaigning on Sunday, following which the party released its star campaigner list.
Rabiul is hopeful that Mamata will campaign for him in Rejinagar. Her inclusion in the list has also fuelled speculation that she could visit the constituency during the campaign.
