Kolkata, Oct. 16 -- Former Chief Minister and Mamata All India Trinamool Congress (MAITC) chairperson Mamata Banerjee on Friday condemned the detention of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Abhijeet Dipke ahead of the proposed 'Lehra Do Tiranga' protest in New Delhi, accusing the authorities of suppressing democratic rights and dissent.
In a social media post, Banerjee questioned the Delhi Police's action and described it as an "undeclared Emergency".
"What is Delhi Police up to? Abhijeet Dipke has been detained for holding the Indian National Flag. Let that sink in. In Independent India, our youth are being detained for peacefully asserting their democratic rights," she wrote.
