New Delhi, Oct. 15 -- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated a Dual Source 256-slice CT scanner and three advanced MRI machines at Lok Nayak Hospital, expanding diagnostic facilities at the government-run institution. The equipment has been provided by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) under its corporate social responsibility initiative.

The new machines are expected to strengthen diagnosis and treatment across specialities, including cardiology, oncology, neurology, urology, orthopaedics and paediatric care. They will help detect conditions such as strokes, cancers, liver and prostate diseases, and musculoskeletal disorders more accurately and quickly.

Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said the CT scan and MRI facilities would be available to patients free of cost, considering the large number of people visiting the hospital, located in a densely populated area.

Gupta said her government was committed to ensuring that no citizen was denied quality healthcare because of financial constraints or other difficulties. She highlighted other facilities introduced at the hospital, including a Lactation Management Unit functioning as a milk bank, a nucleic acid testing machine for HIV and hepatitis screening, and a dedicated ward for patients with rare diseases.

The Chief Minister also referred to the Anmol Yojana, under which newborns are screened for potential genetic disorders to enable early detection and timely treatment.
