New Delhi, Sept. 12 -- Liquor prices in West Bengal are set to rise from October 1, as the state government seeks to boost revenue during the festive season.
The West Bengal State Beverages Corporation has directed manufacturers and suppliers to register all liquor products afresh under the revised pricing exercise, including those whose prices remain unchanged.
The notification did not specify revised prices of individual brands. Companies have been asked to apply online, declare prices in accordance with Excise laws and ensure compliance with all-India minimum prescribed prices.
The move comes days after the Chief Minister announced that liquor shops across the state would remain closed on Maha Ashtami.
Existing stocks bearing old maximum retail prices can continue to be sold, while manufacturers have been asked to ensure uninterrupted supplies during the festive season.
