Kolkata, Sept. 29 -- BJP MP Soumitra Khan has served a legal notice on Aam Janata Unnayan Party chief and MLA Humayun Kabir over his controversial remarks about his prayer for the death of West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.

Kabir had said he would pray to Allah to "book his ticket to go upstairs as soon as possible", referring to Adhikari, while attacking the state government over what he alleged was harassment of minorities.

Khan's legal notice described the remarks as highly objectionable and offensive and asked Kabir to retract his words.

He alleged that such statements could threaten the safety and security of political leaders and adversely affect the state's law-and-order situation. A separate FIR has also been lodged against Kabir for it.
