
New Delhi, Oct. 8 -- Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Thursday inaugurated the DDA Sports Cup (Hockey) at the Hockey AstroTurf of Yamuna Sports Complex, with 11 teams from Delhi-NCR and around 220 players, coaches and support staff participating.
The tournament, being held from October 8 to 18, will have nine playing days, with October 11 and 12 designated as rest days. It will follow a league-cum-knockout format, featuring 20 matches, including 12 league games, four quarter-finals, two semi-finals, a third-place match and the final on October 18.
The event was attended by Vishwas Nagar MLA Om Prakash Sharma, DDA Vice Chairman N Saravana Kumar, senior DDA officials, coaches and participating teams.
The tournament aims to provide young players with competitive exposure and match experience while promoting discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship. It is being organised in line with the Fit India Movement.
The DDA currently manages 19 Sports Complexes, four Mini Sports Complexes and three Golf Courses across Delhi. It said it remains committed to strengthening sports infrastructure and creating opportunities for budding sporting talent.
