New Delhi, Sept. 20 -- If you thought director Srijit Mukherji had unveiled all the cast members of his forthcoming Durga Puja release 'Emperor Vs Sarat Chandra', then you are mistaken. The director has roped in actress Koushani Mukherjee in a crucial role in his much-awaited literary-historical drama.
Koushani will make a special guest appearance as Chandramukhi, one of the most enduring and emotionally complex characters from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's literary universe, 'Devdas'.
While 'Emperor Vs Sarat Chandra' explores the larger legacy of the legendary Bengali author and the turbulent socio-political period surrounding his literary journey, Koushani's portrayal of Chandramukhi adds a distinct emotional and literary dimension to the narrative.
This is Koushani's second outing with Srijit after 'Killbill Society'. Meanwhile, the actress also has another Puja release, Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay's 'Bohurupi: The Golden Daku'.
Srijit's period piece on Sarat Chandra has a casting coup of sorts with Tota Roy Chowdhury as Sarat Chandra, Abir Chatterjee as Sabyasachi (the lead character of the author's book Pather Dabi), Mimi Chakraborty and others. The film also marks Srijit's debut as a music composer.
