Dehradun, Nov. 1 -- The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Sunday launched an aerial search operation for seven trekkers and a guide who went missing after being stranded on the Kedartal trek in Uttarkashi district due to heavy snowfall and adverse weather.
A group of 13 people, including seven trekkers and six support staff, had set out from Gangotri on October 27 and were scheduled to return on October 29. Glaciers and snowfall blocked their route.
Two SDRF personnel conducted two aerial reconnaissance flights over the area but found no clear signs of the missing persons. A mountaineering team has also been deployed for the rescue operation. One stranded trekker has reportedly sustained a head injury.
