Kolkata, Sept. 18 -- The B.Ed fourth-semester examinations of Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University and Calcutta University's BA, BSc and BCom Semester II examinations under the CBCS, scheduled for September 22, have been rescheduled following the state government's declaration of a holiday for Karam Puja.
The B.Ed examinations will now be held on September 23, while the Calcutta University AECC-2 paper has been shifted to October 5 and will be held from 10 am to 11.30 am.
The B.Ed fourth-semester regular examination for the 2024-26 session and supplementary examinations for the 2023-25 and 2022-24 sessions were to be held at more than 200 centres for around 50,000 students. A university official said the examinations were postponed after September 22 was declared a holiday for Karam Puja, which is observed widely by the Kurmi community.
The university, meanwhile, has received replies from around 375 of the 451 private B.Ed colleges that were issued show-cause notices. Vice-Chancellor Arunasis Goswami said the university will scrutinise the replies before deciding which colleges will be allowed to admit students to their B.Ed programmes. Calcutta University said the venues and remaining papers of the Semester II examinations under the CBCS will remain unchanged. Students will use the same admit cards.
Meanwhile, BSAEU conducted the M.Ed examination on September 18 as planned. A university official said the schedule could not be revised after the state government shifted the Vishwakarma Puja holiday from September 17 to September 18. As there were fewer M.Ed candidates, the university decided to retain the
examination schedule.
