India, Aug. 14 -- The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) and Teachers' Association (JNUTA) have demanded the removal of Vice-Chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit and an independent, time-bound inquiry into alleged irregularities in faculty recruitment and promotions. Citing recent media reports, the two bodies alleged that candidates rejected by screening committees were later reinstated by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) despite not meeting UGC norms. JNUTA claimed at least seven appointments violated regulations and accused the administration of bypassing statutory procedures. The organisations sought a judicial or Visitorial inquiry, preservation of recruitment records, disclosure of appointment documents and action against officials found responsible.
