New Delhi, Oct. 14 -- The Ministry of Jal Shakti on Wednesday called for enhanced convergence between the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0 and VB-G RAM G programmes and identified five priority areas, including scientific identification of vulnerable drinking water sources, for states and Union territories to achieve it.

The other priority areas are: aligning JJM plans with gram panchayat plans, establishing technical scrutiny and approval mechanisms, ensuring seamless inter-departmental data sharing, and creating joint monitoring systems to track physical progress and water security outcomes.

The priorities were identified during the third virtual conference with states and Union territories organised by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) as part of follow-up consultations to the Departmental Summit on Water 2026 held on September 1-2, the Ministry of Jal Shakti said.

Addressing the conference, DDWS Secretary Ashok K K Meena called for scientific planning using the Decision Support System (DSS) developed under JJM 2.0 and Yuktdhara

standard operating procedures to identify vulnerable drinking water sources and prioritise interventions based on local requirements.
