New Delhi, Sept. 12 -- Jindal Steel Limited, in collaboration with CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI), has secured a Guinness World Records title for constructing the world's longest road using processed steel slag aggregates in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.
The 1.85-km, four-lane divided road, equivalent to 7.4 lane-km, uses around 200,000 tonnes of processed EAF steel slag and is designed for heavy commercial traffic. The project enables 100 per cent replacement of natural aggregates, saving around 200,000 tonnes of virgin stone and reducing quarrying. The pavement is about 35 per cent thinner, with estimated construction cost savings of up to 40 per cent.
