Kolkata, Nov. 4 -- Road users will have to take a newly-constructed Limited Height Subway (LHS) to cross the railway tracks between Jiaganj and Bhagwangola following the permanent closure of Level Crossing Gate No. 154/E from November 3.
The level crossing, located at Km 208/19-21 between the two stations, has been closed by Sealdah Division after completion of the subway. Road traffic will now be diverted through the LHS.
To prevent people from crossing the railway tracks at the closed gate, trenches have been cut across the road on both sides and rail post fencing has been installed.
The closure is part of the railway's efforts to eliminate risks associated with level crossings and provide a safer alternative for road users.
