New Delhi, July 9 -- The Jharkhand government on July 8, 2026 unveiled a roadmap to position the state as India's leading public governance-led Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub, outlining plans to invest Rs 1,150 crore over the next five years to strengthen digital infrastructure and AI adoption.

Launched during the National Stakeholders' Consultation 2026 in New Delhi, the roadmap focuses on integrating AI across governance, healthcare, education, agriculture, industry and citizen services to improve transparency, efficiency and data-driven decision-making.

A key proposal is the Jharkhand Artificial Intelligence Policy 2026-2031, which seeks to expand AI use in sectors including mining, environmental management and disaster response while ensuring data privacy, cybersecurity and responsible AI deployment.

The government also proposed the Chief Minister Data Intelligence Platform (CM-DIP), an AI-enabled system for real-time monitoring of government programmes, infrastructure projects and departmental performance. AI-powered citizen services through multilingual digital platforms, WhatsApp-based service delivery, digital grievance redressal and Panchayat-level access to government services are also planned.

Three flagship AI initiatives - CM-DIP, the Health and Nutrition Vigilance System (HNVS) and the Critical Minerals Administration System (CMAS) - will use data analytics to strengthen governance, healthcare delivery and mineral administration.

As part of its long-term vision, the state plans to establish a State AI Mission, Jharkhand AI Cloud, AI Innovation Hub, AI Park, AI Innovation Zones, Centres of Excellence and a startup and skilling ecosystem to promote research, innovation and industry-academia collaboration.

The government also showcased plans for a 100.97-acre IT Park in Ranchi to attract Global Capability Centres (GCCs), IT firms and startups. Under Vision 2050, Jharkhand aims to attract over Rs 10,000 crore in investments, establish more than 50 GCCs, support over 1,000 AI startups and create over one lakh AI-enabled jobs, while expanding AI education, skill development and academic partnerships.
