India, Aug. 14 -- The students' protest against alleged irregularities in Jharkhand recruitment examinations entered 20th day on Thursday, with the agitators announcing a 'Tiranga Yatra' on August 15, while an FIR was lodged against 300 unnamed people over the August 10 march towards the Assembly, during which protesters clashed with security personnel. The state CID also conducted raids at multiple locations to execute arrest warrants against seven accused in cases related to alleged irregularities in competitive examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), officials said. The protest, under the banner of JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium here continued with students demanding greater transparency in recruitment exams, cancellation of several tests and an independent probe by the CBI or a panel of retired judges from outside Jharkhand. Police registered an FIR against 300 unnamed people in connection with the August 10 march towards the Jharkhand Assembly, which led to clashes between protesters and security personnel. The case, registered at Vidhan Sabha police station, relates to alleged violation of prohibitory orders, damage to government property and attacks on police personnel, Ranchi SP Paras Rana said. DSP (Hatia) Neeraj Kumar said no arrests or detentions had been made in the August 10 case and that police were examining video footage to identify those involved. The Ranchi administration had imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS within a 750-metre radius of the Assembly ahead of the Monsoon session. Reacting to the FIR, JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch leader Ravindra Paswan appealed to the government not to target genuine students. "If the administration has registered an FIR against unidentified persons, we do not have any objection. But, we would like to appeal to the administration and the Jharkhand government not to file an FIR against any student," Paswan said. The students forum also accused the Congress, a constituent of the ruling JMM-led coalition, of spreading misinformation about the student delegation that met a government panel. The protesters brandished their identity cards after Congress minister Shilpy Neha Tirkey alleged that the delegation did not adequately represent students.
