India, Aug. 14 -- Jharkhand Police have registered an FIR against 300 unidentified people in connection with the violent protest march by job aspirants towards the state Assembly on August 10. The demonstrators were protesting alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, including the 14th JPSC and JSSC-CGL tests. The case was registered at the Vidhan Sabha police station based on a complaint by an on-duty magistrate. Police have invoked several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in connection with allegations of obstructing government work, attacking public servants and damaging public property. Authorities are examining video recordings and photographs from the protest to identify those allegedly involved in the violence. A police officer has been assigned to investigate the case. Despite warnings from officials that prohibitory orders were in place because the Assembly session was underway, some protesters allegedly clashed with security personnel and removed barricades. The FIR further alleges that police personnel and magistrates were attacked with stones, shoes, slippers and water bottles. Several police officers were injured, with one trainee constable suffering a head injury and being taken to hospital for treatment. The case has also prompted concern among student representatives, who have urged authorities to ensure that genuine students participating in the recruitment-related protest are not subjected to harassment.
