New Delhi, July 9 -- India's biggest OTT franchise, 'Mirzapur', is all set to script history with 'Mirzapur: The Movie' starring Pankaj Tripathi, Divyendu Sharma and Ali Fazal, becoming the first Indian streaming franchise to make a grand leap to the big screen. The recently released teaser has already created a massive buzz among fans and taken the internet by storm. As anticipation reaches fever pitch, fans are eagerly waiting to reunite with the show's iconic characters who have become pop-culture phenomena over the years.

Among the most beloved is Abhishek Banerjee's Compounder Subodh, a character that continues to enjoy immense popularity. Recently, Abhishek recalled being recognised by a fan as Compounder Subodh, calling it the kind of connection every actor dreams of building with the audience.

"Yes, Jana and Hathoda Tyagi. I think I'm still known more by these characters than by my own name. And I'm genuinely happy about that. When your characters do well, people form that kind of bond with them. Just like now, I was walking in and the security guard stopped me and said, 'Arre, Mirzapur compounder!' That's how he remembered me. That's exactly the kind of connection I want to build with my audience," shared Abhishek.

Speaking about his journey as an actor, he added, "It's a long journey ahead; this is just the beginning. For me, it's important that people know me for my work and my acting, not for who I am outside of it. And I'm really grateful for the kind of work that's coming my way."

Further expanding the ensemble, the film features Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Mohitt Maalik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Pramod Pathak, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Shweta Tripathi and Sonal S Chauhan, coming together to bring to life an epic untold chapter from the world of 'Mirzapur'.

'Mirzapur: The Movie' is presented by 'Amazon MGM Studios' and 'Excel Entertainment'. Directed by Gurmeet Singh, written by Puneet Krishna, and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under 'Excel Entertainment' and co-produced by Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani, the film is slated for a grand theatrical release on September 4, 2026.
