Malda, April 20 -- Just days before the elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Baishnabnagar Assembly Constituency is grappling with a public display of internal discord, raising concerns over its organisational cohesion.

The controversy erupted after Prasenjit Chowdhury, a BJP Yuva Morcha leader and upapradhan of Bedrabad Gram Panchayat, levelled serious allegations against several party leaders on social media. Naming mandal president Amarnath Ghosh, Bappaditya Sarkar, Paritosh Sarkar and constituency convenor Bidhan Mondal, Chowdhury accused them of conspiring to defeat party candidate Raju Karmakar.

"Funds allocated for booth management are not reaching grassroots workers. A section of the leadership is allegedly siphoning off the money," Chowdhury claimed. He further alleged that such incidents were not new and that party workers have repeatedly been deprived of financial support despite working tirelessly. "Those working day and night at the ground level are not being paid a single rupee," he added. The accusations have triggered embarrassment within the party. Denying the claims, mandal president Paritosh Sarkar said, "These allegations are completely false and politically motivated. All expenditures have been carried out transparently."

Attempting to downplay the situation, BJP candidate Raju Karmakar said: "Differences can exist within any party, but we are united in our fight. Our focus remains on the election." TMC candidate Chandana Sarkar criticised the BJP, stating: "This infighting shows they are divided by power struggles."
