Chandigarh, May 15 -- Former minister and INLD national patron Sampat Singh on Friday accused the Haryana government and state DISCOMs of financial mismanagement and irregularities in the power sector, alleging attempts to burden consumers with unjustified fuel surcharge adjustments (FSA).

At a press conference after proceedings before the HERC, Singh claimed the DISCOMs failed to counter his objections regarding a proposed Rs 1,134 crore FPPAS claim linked to GMR Kamalanga. He alleged the claim had lapsed under regulatory provisions due to delayed action. Singh also alleged that a Rs 1,300 crore payment to Sikkim Urja Limited (Greenko) in October 2025 was cleared without proper transparency and demanded an independent inquiry into the transaction.

He claimed that Rs 2,263 crore in negative FSA surplus due to consumers since 2021 had not been passed on, while pending subsidies of Rs 1,971 crore had worsened DISCOMs' financial condition.
