Kolkata, May 24 -- An artificial intelligence-based documentary titled 'Back to the Past' was unveiled at the Indian Museum, showcasing a new approach to presenting India's ancient history and cultural heritage through immersive digital storytelling.

The documentary uses artificial intelligence, advanced visual effects and digitally recreated environments to revive historical moments, forgotten traditions and ancient civilisations in a cinematic format aimed particularly at younger audiences. Combining archival research with AI-generated visual reconstruction and narration, the project seeks to make history more accessible and engaging.

The initiative was presented as part of a collaboration between Brainware University and the Indian Museum under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Scholars, students, museum professionals and invited guests attended the unveiling ceremony and praised the effort to integrate technology with heritage education. Sayan Bhattacharya, director of the Indian Museum, described the project as "a renaissance in the world of history and museums."

Developed by the technical and creative team of Brainware University, the documentary highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence in heritage preservation, museum interpretation and experiential learning.

Organisers said the project could open new possibilities for AI-driven educational documentaries and digital heritage communication in museums and academic institutions.
