NEW DELHI, April 3 -- Delhi Police have busted an illegal LPG cylinder hoarding and suspected black-marketing racket in the Bawana industrial area, arresting one person and seizing a vehicle used for transportation.

The accused has been identified as Anil (50), a resident of Auchandi village in Delhi. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a team from Bawana police station in Outer North district launched an operation on April 2 following information about illegal storage and movement of LPG cylinders.

A police team laid a picket near District Park in Sector-2, DSIIDC Bawana, and intercepted a Tata Ace vehicle around 4 pm. During inspection, officers recovered 27 LPG cylinders from the vehicle, including 13 domestic and 14 commercial cylinders, several of them filled. The driver failed to produce any valid documents or authorisation.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that more cylinders were stored nearby. Police subsequently conducted a search at premises near a factory in G Block, Sector-2, and recovered 48 additional cylinders from two rooms and an iron shed. Cylinders stored illegally posed safety risks; case registered, police probing supply chain, buyers and possible involvement of others.
