Kolkata, Sept. 24 -- IIEST Shibpur has tied up with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Artificial Intelligence, strengthening industry-academia collaboration in advanced computing and AI research.
A MoU was signed between the two on September 22. The on-campus High-Performance Computing (HPC) Lab of the institute's Electrical Engineering Department will serve as the physical venue for the new AI Centre of Excellence.
The initiative is expected to provide a platform for faculty, researchers and students to work on AI-related research and applications while facilitating greater interaction between academia and the technology industry. The collaboration also aims to leverage high-performance computing infrastructure for advanced research and innovation.
The MoU signing and inauguration was attended by IIEST director Prof V M S R Murthy, Dean of Research & Consultancy Prof Pratik Datta, Dean-Academics Prof Arindam Biswas and IIPC chairperson Prof Konika Das (Bhattacharya).
TCS senior leadership, including Souvik Das, Anand Singh, Anupam Chakraborty and Tapas Laha, were present along with heads of departments, associate deans and faculty members.
