New Delhi, Oct. 1 -- Infosys Founder N R Narayana Murthy said India can create jobs through ideas and enterprise to become a developed nation, speaking at O P Jindal Global University's 17th Anniversary and University Day.

He said, "The softest pillow is a clear conscience," and stressed that "it's very simple to do the right thing if you set it as the benchmark." On failure, he said, "Failure is like a series of steps towards success," urging students to learn from mistakes and not be driven into inaction.

Prof. C Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor, JGU, said institutions endure "when integrity becomes institutional culture, when excellence becomes habit and when leadership becomes responsibility."

Prof. Dabiru Sridhar Patnaik, Registrar, JGU, said Infosys & JGU were built on "values, by long-term purpose rather than short-term gain and by a commitment to excellence that never compromised integrity."

Prof. R Sudarshan, Dean, Jindal School of Government and Public Policy, called Murthy an example of "vision, ideas, innovation and hard work" through ethical leadership.

K. Jairaj, IAS, Former Additional Chief Secretary, Karnataka, highlighted Infosys' technological, entrepreneurial and philanthropic milestones.
