Udaipur, May 25 -- Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL) said its Rampura Agucha Mine has become India's first Zinc Mark-certified mine, marking a major milestone in responsible zinc production.

Rampura Agucha, the world's largest underground zinc-lead mine, received the certification under the globally recognised Zinc Mark assurance framework, which validates responsible production based on environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards, responsible sourcing and supply chain transparency.

The achievement follows Zinc Mark certification for the company's Chanderiya Smelting Complex, making Hindustan Zinc the first Indian company to offer responsibly sourced zinc across the production chain from mining to smelting.

The certification was awarded after an independent third-party assessment under the Copper Mark Assurance Framework, verifying compliance with global responsible production standards.

CEO Arun Misra said the certification strengthens customer confidence in the company's transparent and sustainable production practices as global industries increasingly seek responsibly sourced metals. Hindustan Zinc supplies zinc to sectors including infrastructure, automobiles, renewable energy & electronics, where demand for low-carbon and ESG-compliant materials is rising.
