India, June 30 -- The Delhi Police have arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his 30-year-old wife to death over suspicion of an extramarital affair, officials said. Police identified the deceased as Sonam Joshi (30) and the accused as her husband, Anuj Joshi (35), both residents of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The incident came to light after a PCR call was received at Anand Vihar Police Station on June 28 reporting that a woman was lying in a pool of blood inside a room. A police team rushed to the spot and found Sonam dead with multiple stab injuries. Sonam, who worked as a full-time domestic worker in Noida, had recently been staying at the house of her sister-in-law, Kaushal, in Karkardooma Village. During the investigation, police found that Anuj had allegedly purchased a knife in Lucknow before boarding a bus to Delhi. He is suspected to have reached Karkardooma Village around 5.40 am on June 28, entered the room where Sonam was sleeping and stabbed her multiple times, killing her. Police said the accused concealed the knife in a plastic bag inside the room after the murder. He was later apprehended with the assistance of family members and neighbours. The alleged weapon of offence was recovered at his instance. Police said Anuj earns his livelihood by operating an ice cream cart in Lucknow. He was previously married and has two children from his first marriage. After his divorce, he married Sonam, and the couple has three children. All five children are currently living with the accused in Lucknow. Further investigation is underway.
