Chandigar, Sept. 7 -- Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday announced the expansion of the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana by raising the annual family income eligibility limit from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.80 lakh, bringing more women under the monthly financial assistance scheme.
Eligible women receive Rs 2,100 per month under the scheme, aimed at promoting financial security, self-reliance and greater participation in household financial decisions. Saini said the registration portal for the expanded eligibility would be opened shortly and urged eligible women to register.
The Chief Minister also clarified that women registering for or receiving benefits under the scheme would continue to receive benefits under other government schemes, including pensions. He said claims by opposition leaders that registration would lead to discontinuation of other benefits were baseless.
Saini said the BJP had promised the monthly assistance of Rs 2,100 to women from poor families among its 217 election 'Sankalps' ahead of the 2024 Assembly polls. The government allocated Rs 5,000 crore for the scheme in its first budget and has so far transferred over Rs 2,000 crore to nearly 10 lakh women.
The government has earmarked Rs 6,500 crore for the scheme in its second budget. Saini said the expanded eligibility would cover more women and strengthen the economic foundation of families by ensuring direct financial assistance to economically weaker women.
