Shimla, Sept. 7 -- Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday directed the Education Department to finalise the dress code for teachers and uniforms for students in over 150 government schools being converted to the CBSE curriculum, aimed at improving educational quality and competitiveness.
Chairing a meeting of the Education Department, Sukhu said the teacher dress code in these schools would be implemented from October 1. He also directed officials to finalise a distinct colour scheme for school buildings and work on the logo for the state-run CBSE schools.
To strengthen discipline and punctuality, the Chief Minister ordered that attendance in these schools be marked three times a day.
Sukhu said the government was making concerted efforts to provide quality education to students, particularly in rural areas, through CBSE-affiliated government schools. He said students would get CBSE education at affordable rates compared with private schools.
The CM said teachers had already been appointed in the schools and directed that vacancies arising in future be filled on priority to ensure that students' studies were not affected by staff shortages.
The CBSE conversion is aimed at helping students prepare for national-level entrance examinations such as JEE and NEET.
