India, July 22 -- Eastern Railway (ER) will regulate several long-distance trains and cancel 16 EMU services during a 60-hour non-interlocking block at Howrah station from 5 pm on July 24 to 5 am on July 27 for the commissioning of Platform No. 24. The non-interlocking work will be carried out at the Howrah Link Cabin under the Howrah Division. During the block period, several long-distance trains will either originate from or terminate at Santragachi or Shalimar instead of Howrah. Among the affected trains are the Coromandel Express, Gitanjali Express, Falaknuma Express, Dhauli Express, Kriya Yoga Express, Chennai Mail, Bengaluru Superfast Express and Ahmedabad Superfast Express. The Ispat Express, CSMT Mail, Tiruchchirappalli Superfast Express, Pune-Howrah Duronto Express and several other long-distance services will also originate from or terminate at Santragachi or Shalimar instead of Howrah between July 24 and July 27. ER said trains shifted to Shalimar will depart at their scheduled departure time from Howrah, while those originating from Santragachi will depart according to their scheduled departure time from Santragachi. Suburban services will also be affected. Sixteen EMU services, including Howrah-Midnapore, Howrah-Kharagpur, Howrah-Amta, Howrah-Mecheda and Howrah-Panskura local services and their return services, have been cancelled-14 on July 27 and two on July 26.
