Malda, Sept. 21 -- A hotel manager was arrested by Kaliachak police following allegations that minors were being employed at a hotel in the Bishu More area of Sujapur in Malda district. The accused has been identified as Mobarak Hossain, a resident of Baliapur in Sujapur.
According to police sources, allegations were received that minor children were being made to work at Tamanna Hotel near Bishu More. On Sunday evening, the Malda Child Helpline informed Kaliachak police about the alleged child labour at the establishment.
Acting on the information, a team from Kaliachak police conducted a raid at the hotel. During the operation, two minors were found working there and were rescued by the authorities.
Following the raid, police arrested hotel manager Mobarak Hossain in connection with the alleged employment of the children. The rescued minors have been placed under the care of the Child Helpline after completion of the necessary procedures, officials said.
The arrested manager was produced before the Malda district court on Monday.
