Kolkata, Oct. 2 -- Three Indian Secular Front (ISF) workers were arrested by the Kolkata Police on Thursday following a major disturbance and a physical scuffle with the cops inside the Garden Reach State General Hospital.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sheikh Salman, Md. Sahil, and Sanaullah Khan. According to police officials, all three have confirmed ties to the ISF.

According to police, the confrontation began around 1:30 pm on Thursday. The three youth allegedly trespassed into a restricted section of the hospital's Out-Patient Department and began recording videos on their mobile phones. The trio was also allegedly shouting communal hate speeches and trying to instigate the common people present at the hospital. When the on-duty hos pital staff and cops challenged their actions and requested them to stop filming in the high-security zone, and leave, the accused grew aggressive.

It was learnt that although Kolkata Police Home Guard Prakash Thakur and Constable Md. Azibuddin, who were present at the scene, directed the accused to disperse, the trio allegedly refused to comply with the police personnel's lawful order and manhandled them.

Reinforcements were rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control and secure the hospital premises. The three men were subsequently detained and taken to the police station for formal processing.

After an FIR was registered against the trio on charges of promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence and language, assaulting or using criminal force against a public servant to deter them from discharging their duty, and criminal trespass and house-trespass, the three were arrested.
