Chandigarh, Sept. 25 -- Thousands of Haryana Congress workers and leaders protested outside the State Election Commission office on Friday, alleging irregularities in the electoral process.
Police used barricades and water cannons to stop protesters attempting to gherao the office, with Congress claiming several workers were injured and many detained. The protest was led by state in-charge Sanjay Dutt, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state president Rao Narendra.
Hooda alleged that public trust in the Election Commission had eroded and demanded CEC Gyanesh Kumar's resignation. He cited discrepancies in Haryana's reported voter turnout and alleged irregularities in voter lists, including multiple registrations linked to single photographs, citing claims earlier made by Rahul Gandhi.
