India, Aug. 14 -- A 40-year-old home guard was killed and a police constable injured after a speeding Thar allegedly rammed into their PRV motorcycle from behind on NH-9 in Ghaziabad late Wednesday night. Police arrested the SUV driver, identified as cloth trader Sonu Gulati, who was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. The accident occurred around 11pm when PRV-9619, deployed in Noida, was responding to an emergency call from the 112 helpline. The personnel were travelling towards Gaur City-2 in Bisrakh when they entered the Ghaziabad stretch of NH-9 to take a U-turn towards Delhi. The Thar allegedly hit the motorcycle at high speed, throwing both personnel off the vehicle. Home guard Kapil Kumar, a resident of Hapur, died at the spot, while constable Praveen was injured and later discharged from hospital. Police arrested Gulati and seized the vehicle.
