New Delhi, July 6 -- Sitting down to watch 'Raakh', the latest crime thriller on 'Amazon Prime Video' inspired by the infamous 1978 Ranga-Billa case, was a deeply disturbing experience. Several moments during the binge-watch sent chills down our spine and much of that had to do with Akash Makhija's performance as 'Babu'. As the menacing antagonist, he portrays a character who isn't merely a villain created for the screen but someone who could very well exist in society. Makhija has already proved his mettle in projects like 'Gram Chikitsalay' and 'Bhool Chuk Maaf', but in 'Raakh', he creates such a disturbing world that his character refuses to leave your mind long after the credits roll. He may not have been the lead actor in the series, but his sheer performance elevates it to another level.

In fact, OTT platforms have given us several remarkable actors like Makhija who, in mainstream Bollywood, might have been sidelined or never had the opportunity to showcase their talent fully. Simply because they don't fit the conventional 'hero' mould, they may not have been considered leading men. Yet, their talent surpasses such superficial standards. 'Millennium Post' lists some of the finest OTT actors who have proved their exceptional artistic range.

Ishwak Singh

OTT's powerhouse performer Ishwak Singh has showcased his brilliance in 'Paatal Lok' and 'Rocket Boys'. He doesn't shout to make an impact; instead, he breathes life into every moment. In 'Paatal Lok', his idealistic cop, Imran Ansari, became the moral centre of the entire show. In 'Rocket Boys', his portrayal of scientist Vikram Sarabhai made the iconic figure feel human rather than just a historical name. He began his journey with small roles in films like 'Raanjhanaa' and 'Veere Di Wedding', but it didn't take long for audiences to recognise his finesse as an actor through OTT.

Sunny Hinduja

Would it be an exaggeration to call Sunny Hinduja OTT's most versatile 'chameleon'? He is rarely the lead, yet he is impossible to ignore. His performances in 'Aspirants' and 'The Railway Men' perfectly demonstrate his range. In 'Aspirants', he played Sandeep Bhaiya, a UPSC aspirant whose raw and relatable struggle inspired millions. In 'The Railway Men', he portrayed a journalist uncovering the truth behind the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, bringing emotional depth to a character who helped drive the narrative. Here's hoping we get to see much more of this charismatic performer.

Bhuvan Arora

'Farzi' was as much Bhuvan Arora's show as it was Shahid Kapoor's. As the quick-witted Firoz, he emerged as one of the show's strongest pillars. Then came Amavas in the social comedy 'Dupahiya', where Bhuvan once again proved why he is becoming such a dependable performer. His work in 'TVF Pitchers' and 'Interior Cafe Night' further highlights his versatility. His rare ability to balance comedy with emotional depth makes him a delight to watch.

Aditya Rawal

Like father, like son. Aditya Rawal is living proof that talent runs in the family. The son of veteran actor Paresh Rawal, Aditya is a remarkably consistent performer who never lets his acting falter, even when the script does. His performances in 'Bamfaad', 'Daldal' and 'Subedaar' are thoroughly compelling. Here's an actor whose range is truly impressive. Let's hope the Indian film industry utilises this rare talent to its fullest.

Naveen Kasturia

His name may not instantly ring a bell for everyone, but Naveen Kasturia's performances in 'Aspirants' and 'TVF Pitchers' showcase his quiet strength as an actor. In 'TVF Pitchers', he played Naveen Bansal, one of the friends who holds the group together with warmth, humour and authenticity. In 'Aspirants', his portrayal of Abhilash Sharma and his journey through struggle and perseverance as a UPSC aspirant became one of the emotional anchors of the series.
