Kolkata, Aug. 28 -- The rain is unlikely to ease over West Bengal anytime soon, with the weather office forecasting the formation of a fresh low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-North Odisha coasts around Saturday.
An upper-air cyclonic circulation is currently lying over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts and extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.
The developing system is expected to keep rainfall activity over South Bengal active through September 1, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely on Sunday.
On Saturday, heavy rain is likely at isolated places in North 24-Parganas and South 24-Parganas, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph across several districts.
